Ljubljana is often called the "City of Dragons". According to Greek legend, the Argonauts, led by Jazon, found a large lake surrounded by marshes between the present-day towns of Vrhnika and Ljubljana.
The Lore: It is said that Jazon struck down a terrible monster in that marsh—a dragon. Today, that dragon has become the symbol of the city, representing power, courage, and greatness. You can see four magnificent copper dragons guarding the famous Dragon Bridge.
Ljubljana is a green capital with a relaxed Mediterranean vibe. The city center is pedestrian-only, characterized by the unique architecture of Jože Plečnik, who designed the Triple Bridge, the Central Market, and the river embankments.
In June, the city comes alive with outdoor cafes along the Ljubljanica River. It is the perfect time to visit the Ljubljana Castle, which offers a panoramic view of the city and the distant Alps.
